We acquired three new children on a permanent basis. Little John (5), Daphine (5) and Little Gabriel Carl Kirya (10 months). John and Daphine were transferred to us from Welcome Home Ministries. Gabriel Carl was thrown in the street by a mentally disturbed woman believed to be his mother. Two good Samaritans who are born again Christians saw what happened and took the baby (and his mother) to the police. The police could not establish where the lady came from or her next of kin, so they released her. But little Gabe was turned over to the Probation Department who in turn contacted us. Gabe is a happy, smiling, anemic little boy with thinning hair that has the reddish hue of a malnourished child. However, Gabe is HIV - (negative). We know that with proper feeding and lots of love that Gabe will be on his way to getting much healthier. Daphine is a little girl who is 5 years old and comes to us from Welcome Home Ministries. We originally planned Daphine coming to be with us fulltime after we moved into the new house. However, Daphine began to develop behavioral problems that were better solved by coming to us now. Both Daphine and John are prison children. Daphine's mother (who was wife #2) is currently still in prison for poisoning/murdering three children of the first wife of her husband. John's mother was in prison for murdering her husband (John's father). John and Daphine both lived with their mothers in prison for some time before Welcome Home took over custody. Even in the short time we have had them we see what love, security and care can do in a child's life at an early age. |
