Robert Kailugala Kirya

Robert was admitted to Answering For The Children on February 28th, 2002 at the tender age of 4 months. He was brought by the probation officer and Robert’s grandmother. Robert’s mother died on January 15th, 2002 and his father died late in 2001. Both died of AIDS. Robert has been tested for HIV/AIDS and his results were negative. PTL!!! Robert’s grandmother use to come to visit him often but each time she came she bore sad news. Out of all of her 11 children, she only has 1 still alive. The other 10 have all died from AIDS. How sad for a mother to bury almost all of her children and even some of her grandchildren to that deadly virus.

Roberto, (as we call him), is thriving. He is in nursery school and loves going to school. He’s very feisty and like Mwesigwa he is also very mischievous. He seems to always be into something. Though he always seems to be in trouble, Robert is a sweet kid. As little as he is, he makes sure that the younger ones are ok, especially little Mark. He tries to make sure that Mark and Nora have on their shoes and are dressed properly. He also has the most fantastic and contagious smile and laughter. In church, he loves to clap and dance to the music. His favorite color is orange and he loves to eat posho and beans and pizza. He likes drawing and coloring especially anything that has to do with cars. His best friend at school is Nasser and at home he loves Joelle and Mwesigwa because they make him laugh. He likes watching Cedarmont Kids Bible Songs. When you remember us here in Jinja, remember Robert.
