Unice Kisakye
Born: unknown
Admitted: n/a

Unice, along with her brother Mwesigwa, came to the home in September of 2002. The story is that her mother discovered she had AIDS and abandoned her three children with their father. The father then died in early 2002, and the children were taken in by a neighbor. Two days before the children were to come here, the oldest sister died of cerebral malaria. Soon after Unice and Mwesigwa became part of our family, we found out that the “neighbor” was actually their father. The children’s mother was his second wife and after she left, his other wife became physically abusive to the three children. He decided he had to find a way to get rid of them. After talking to him about it, he decided he would talk to his other wife, and return to get the kids and take them back home. We set a day for him to come, and to date he has never returned for Unice and Mwesigwa and his whereabouts are unknown.
